At the presidential debate tonight in Denver, Mitt Romney is a strong challenger to President Barack Obama. Romney’s post on facebook at about 8:30 a.m. today garnered hundreds of “likes” in just a few minutes. What he says rings true to lots of people.
Romney said, “Under President Obama, 196,688 new people are on food stamps in Colorado. We shouldn’t measure compassion by how many people are on welfare or receiving food stamps. We should measure compassion by how many people are able to get off and get a good paying job.”
If Obama uses the same old, same old recycled rhetoric tonight, Americans should see it for what it is. It’s a broken record. Continue reading
Muriel Taylor has deep reasons for voting for Mitt Romney for president. Taylor was in a group of women supporting Romney when I asked them for reasons for their support. Taylor wrote down her reasons, which resonated strongly with me.
Taylor said, “I am voting for Mitt Romney because I love my country. I believe the freedom that I cherish is being eroded by the ever encroaching arm of the federal government. It has become a giant octopus with tentacles that search for every way possible to feed itself off the labors of the people and to crush the life out of them by all its rules and regulations.”
This rang true with President Barack Obama’s whacks at religious freedom and increasing regulations on small businesses. These have got to stop.
Taylor continued by saying, “The staggering national debt is just one of the many things that is wrong with the present administration. Our country is in serious danger if we do not make a change in the upcoming election. I am amazed at the class warfare that is going on because Romney is a successful businessman. I can’t ever remember success being an issue. I was under the assumption that is what we want in a leader. He is someone who has had the experience and has proven himself quite able in fiscal responsibility, which he did when he was governor of Massachusetts.” Continue reading
President Barack Obama is at it again. The incumbent is using his position in hopes of winning a second term. By executive decree, his administration will not deport illegal immigrants from the United States who fit his criteria but will grant work permits instead. In so doing, Obama excludes Congress from the discussion and puts aside current law.
Colorado State Senator Shawn Mitchell pointed out on his facebook page, “Granting work permits to individuals prohibited by U.S. statute from residing here, let alone working here, is not executive discretion. It is lawless policymaking by fiat. Congress and the high Court should reject it forcefully.”
President Barack Obama’s failed economic policies and strategies have hit women hard, according to numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“The Obama Administration has brought hard times to American women. Under President Obama, more women have struggled to find work than at any other time in recorded history,” Mitt Romney says on his website, mittromney.com.
Romney says “Current Employment Statistics” he accessed on April 6 show “Women account for 92.3 percent of the jobs lost under Obama.”
Additionally, Romney says, “What president has the worst record on female labor force participation? Barack Obama. Turning the clock back 20 years on American women.” Romney backs up his observation with the BLS “Current Population Survey” that “Under Obama, the number of unemployed women has increased by 858,000.”
Economic issues are the basis for everything. Women struggle as they look for work to provide for themselves and their families. They struggle as they watch family members suffer with unemployment. Moreover, if they are stay-at-home moms, they manage household economic losses that do not include pursuits of employment.
With audacious hypocrisy, government provides physical therapy, wheelchairs and other medical services only by medical necessity while President Obama mandates unlimited birth control for women.
Oral contraceptives can be prescribed as a medical necessity for a variety of women’s health conditions, including excessive uterine bleeding. Additionally, surgical procedures like hysterectomies and uterine ablations, which also have the effect of preventing conception, can be medically necessary. I have no argument with government paying for their use under those conditions.
So, what should be the requirements before government pays for oral contraceptives or IUDs? When should government pay for gynelogical procedures or surgeries for women? Let us look at how government determines when to pay for physical therapy and wheelchairs as we answer these questions. Continue reading
President Obama declared in his State of the Union address Tuesday night that economic fairness for all Americans is the “definitive issue of our time.”
Obama would have done well to follow with encouragement for all Americans to work hard and advance their own dreams economically and otherwise through their individual focus, talents and abilities. America is the land of opportunity where the American Dream can be achieved by all. There is no zero sum where some have to fail so others can succeed. No slice of the pie takes away from another.
Instead, Obama said the free market system eroded “the basic American promise” of opportunity. Obama sees our American economic system as the problem. While he talked of all Americans getting a fair shot, their fair share and playing by the same set of rules, he sounded like he were talking about playing ball at recess in elementary school.
The issue of whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States of America has haunted Obama for much of his presidency and even before. So, why did it take Donald Trump bringing up the issue for Obama to share the long form of his birth certificate with the public? The White House posted it online on Wednesday showing the president was born in Hawaii, USA.
Despite Obama’s efforts to say we have no time for this “silliness,” Obama came off looking like he was putting out fires rather than moving forward on any of his agenda. On the other hand, Trump turned the outcome to his advantage.
Trump told reporters in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on Wednesday, “Today I am very proud of myself because I have accomplished something that nobody else has been able to accomplish.”
The United States of America is involved in more than one “American Revolution” even as the nation celebrates Independence Day with parades, picnics and fireworks. Arizona’s signs give one glaring clue to one battle, securing our borders.
With one of many highway signs 80 miles north of the Arizona-Mexico border, the Bureau of Land Management warns, “Visitors may encounter armed criminals and smuggling,” and the BLM “encourages visitors to use public land north of Interstate 8.”
Also via the sign, visitors are told to stay away from trash, clothing, backpacks, and abandoned vehicles. If they see suspicious activity, visitors are told via the sign, “Do Not Confront! Move Away and Call 911.”
These signs signify a war, one to which President Obama must take action or we lose more of our nation’s land to criminals. Governor Janice K. Brewer of Arizona wrote Obama a letter on June 24, 2010, outlining the great need and has responded with a video message to Obama. I’m among those waiting for his response. You can see the video and read the letter at: this site. Continue reading
On Sun., March 21, at about midnight, President Obama declared, “This is what change looks like” in reference to his campaign promise of “change we can believe in.” Obama, Pelosi and Reid finally had squeezed enough Democrats to get the 219-212 vote to pass the Senate version of Obamacare in the House. In so doing, Obama showed his signature style – cut the people and the opposition out of the process as much as possible. Continue reading
